Summer EDGE Program for blind and low vision high school students

An opportunity to level up your blindness skills and to explore career paths

Join us this summer at the Louisiana Center for the Blind EDGE Program! Get the EDGE to succeed—explore, grow, and shape your future with us!

Dates: June 15 – July 5, 2025 Location: Louisiana Center for the Blind, Ruston, LA

What: An independence-building and career focused residential training program for blind and low vision students in grades 9–12.

Throughout this 3-week program, students will experience EDGE:

  • Exploration: Discover career paths, complete worksite tours, and participate in work-based learning opportunities.

  • Determination: Cultivate the motivation, self-advocacy, and perspective to accomplish your goals.

  • Growth: Boost your blindness skills, increase your independence, and gain confidence.

  • Empowerment: Obtain the tools and mentorship to shape your future.

EDGE program staff include experienced teachers of blind students and blind mentors who will provide support and guidance. Students will participate in fun evening and weekend activities to make their time with us extra memorable.
